Antwerp, 20 June 2008 – A little more than a
year after the last major release of its VoIP telephony platform, Linugen today
announces the availability of Sipcat 1.3, a new milestone in the product's
development.
Renewed Linux base
Today's hardware evolves fast and operating
systems need to keep up. Therefore
Sipcat's underlying enterprise Linux operating system has been completely
updated. This not only includes
support for new hardware but provides a number of security updates as well as
general package updates.
Brand new integrated fax server
While previous versions of Sipcat already
supported receiving of fax message through e-mail. This new release includes the ability to send faxes by
simply attaching a PDF document to an e-mail message. Sipcat will then capture the message and fax the PDF to the
destination phone number specified in the 'To:' field of the e-mail message.
Click-to dial support in Firefox
Sipcat 1.3 also includes new features on the
client side. Through the use of a
simple plug-in users of the Firefox web browser now have access to
click-to-dial functionality. The
web browser will automatically hyperlink phone numbers and dial them when the
user clicks the link. This not
only saves time, but provides basic integration between the phone system and
existing web based applications such as CRM tools.
New IP phones and telephony cards
Sipcat already has the broadest
auto-configuration support in the industry, supporting IP phones from brands
such as: Cisco, Grandstream, Linksys, Polycom, Snom and Thomson. This new release introduces auto-configuration
support for Aastra IP phones, bringing the total number of auto-configurable IP
phone brands to seven. Linugen is
also glad to announce the newly built-in support for Sirrix ISDN cards.
Automatic updates
Earlier versions of Sipcat already supported
easy updates of the system using the web browser. The new release takes
updating the phone system to the next level. When enabled, Sipcat's automatic update system, will
download the latest update automatically and then notify the user. When the system is ready to be updated,
only a single click is required to start the process.

features that have been requested by customers over the past months as well as
numerous bugfixes for existing issues.
