Thursday, 2009-08-13 @ 14:23 CEST
Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of our new VoIP-based service ConfCentral. ConfCentral provides global conferencing and international conference calls from more than 10 countries for a single flat fee. Traditionally conferencing services allow access to the conference room from a single 0800 number.
It has been exactly 6 months since we released our last update. While we are working on some new products and services behind the scenes we bring you this update which contains a number of fixes for issues that have popped up during the past half year. As of this update you will be automatically notified of any new update as soon as you log into the management interface, this save the hassle of having to check our website every now and then.
German independent IP phone maker Snom is pulling the green card. A German school has tested the power usage of various IP phone brands and found out that Snom devices consequently use the least power in the respective phone class. Good news for Snom as companies are increasingly taking ecological aspects into consideration when selecting new technology solutions.
It looks like Skype finally means business. Just a couple of days after we reported about the Skype-Asterisk connection, Skype is opening up to the entire SIP PBX world. The company today announced its beta program “Skype for SIP” which will allow SIP PBX’s to connect to the more than 405 million Skype users worldwide.
We’re not too big a fans of Skype around here, but every once in a while a customer will ask us if her new IP PBX will allow her to perform calls to the Skype network. We then dutyfully explain her why that is not possible. So yes, even though I don’t necessarily have to like it myself, some customers would be very happy to see a Skype channel added to Asterisk and therefore Sipcat.
