Is video leading the softphone revolution?

Fellow blogger Andy Abramson has been covering SightSpeed a lot lately. SightSpeed offers a software based approach to video conferencing, much like Skype does for voice calling. The big difference is, that Skype is active in a consumer market, while SightSpeed mainly serves the business market. Seeing that most companies still prefer fixed handsets on their desks, they apparently aren’t so picky when it comes to video.

Anybody cares about Skype for business?

So Skype recently introduced their Small Business Pack and I can’t help but wondering if anyone’s really waiting for that. Even though I am not a big fan of Skype, I’ll be the first to admit that Skype is great in the residential end-user space. People who want to call at significantly lower price (or even for free) greatly benefit from products such as Skype.
