Polycom introduces new IP conference phones

Sipcat VoIP Blog - SoundStation IP 7000The Polycom SoundStation IP 4000 has been the company’s only IP-based conference phone for a long time. While Polycom’s traditional conference phone lineup includes many different models sporting wireless, bluetooth and skype support; the IP based lineup consisted of one device. That’s about to change as Polycom recently introduced the SoundStation IP 6000 and IP 7000 models.

Both models support Polycom’s HD Voice for “outstanding voice clarity” - found in some of the company’s IP phones - and integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) support. The IP 6000 offers 12 foot (3.6 meter) voice pickup - supposedly a 20% increase from previous models - while the IP 7000 offers 12 foot (6 meter) voice pickup.

The IP 7000 also offers a larger high-resolution display with an XHTML microbrowser to allow small applications to run on the phone. The IP 6000 will retail at $899, the IP 7000 at $1299. Both devices are expected to be released in May.
