Dell and Fonality teaming up
Wow, this is an impressive partnership announcement, Dell has picked Fonality as a partner to offer VoIP solutions to small businesses. It comes as a bit of surprise that Dell didn’t go for one of the traditional established vendors, but instead went for a company that offers Asterisk based solutions.
According to TMC, Dell wasn’t specifically looking for an open source based partner when it picked Fonality, but ease of use and cost where the main reason to go for Fonality. There’s a podcast with Fonality CEO Chris Lymann announcing the partnership over at TMC. Dell even put up a website explaining their small business VoIP solutions.
Dell has also partnered with Nortel to offer similar solutions, still this must come as a blow to Microsoft. One can reasonably expect that the Microsoft lobbyers did everything they could to force convince Dell to use their SMB VoIP solution.
