BT releases “Understanding VoIP” guide

We’ve had our coverage about setting up VoIP in your business on this newborn blog. But when the UK’s largest incumbent operator starts releasing “Understanding VoIP for business” our eyebrows are rising. Finding coverage on business VoIP isn’t nearly as easy as consumer VoIP. Probably because the uptake of VoIP in business environments is usually a little more thought out than on the consumer side and therefore also a little slower.

After finding this new guide, I was sure this was going to be another promotional brochure, talking about the benefits of BT’s newest VoIP widget mixed with some technical terms to make it look like a real guide. It turns out I was pretty wrong. The guide takes time to dispell some myths about VoIP, such as: “VoIP calls can only be made from in front of a computer” or “VoIP is unreliable”, and elaborates on the benefits of using VoIP. BT even included a VoIP jargon buster to help you through the abundant TLA’s (ok, ok, Three Letter Acronyms) out there.
