Global Crossing expands VoIP Local Service
We generally don’t just republish press releases on this blog. But when a company offers - or in this case, expands - a VoIP solution that sounds interesting to our SMB customers, we just can’t ignore it. Apparently Global Crossing (GC) provides a service called “VoIP Local Service” which provides companies DDI/DID numbers via VoIP. This allows you to completely drop the analog/digital lines and stay all VoIP at your end, eleminating the worry and cost of additional analog/digital hardware.
Now there are many companies who provide such a service, I hear you say. And while that’s true - we have used some in the past ourselves - this offer, is one of the first, complete and pretty much global offering I’ve seen from an incumbent carrier. What’s even more interesting and lacking with many other service providers, is that GC’s offer includes local number portability, an essential feature that we talked about only a few days ago (Question 5).
So, what’s this expansion all about? GC is adding the following countries to it’s local service: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Peru, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, bringing the total number of countries where the service is offered to 20. GC also offers outbound VoIP in a number of other countries. Here’s a complete list of the countries where these services are offered. If you try this service with Sipcat, let us know how it went.
