VON Europe

So, VON Europe in Stockholm is over. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to go, which is a shame because the atmosphere at Jeff’s events is always great. I’m sure, this year was no different. Anybody cares about Skype for business?

So Skype recently introduced their Small Business Pack and I can’t help but wondering if anyone’s really waiting for that. Even though I am not a big fan of Skype, I’ll be the first to admit that Skype is great in the residential end-user space. People who want to call at significantly lower price (or even for free) greatly benefit from products such as Skype.

Digium introduces PCI Express cards

Only two days ago, I was touting Sangoma for being the only one to release their telephony interface cards in the increasingly popular PCI Express format. It seems that at the same time, Digium was preparing their press release to introduce their new line of PCI Express cards to the world.

Switching away from VoIP

There are some rumors floating around in the blogosphere of people moving away from VoIP. And these “rumors” are coming from early adopters, such as Telepocalypse’s Martin Geddes. While Martin definitely raises some interesting points, what troubles me is the lack of clear separation between Internet based telephony services such as Skype and businesses IP telephony systems.

Sangoma introduces BRI card

Sangoma is one of the bigger players when it comes to WAN and voice interface cards. They are pretty popular with open source telephony projects such as Asterisk. One of the issues in the (mainly) European market is that BRI ISDN (as opposed to PRI ISDN) is very popular and few manufacturers provide compatible cards for it. Therefore BRI users, traditionally went for European manufacturers such as Junghanns and Beronet.
